Linksys Wireless Router help please please please?
I have a Linksys Wireless G Broadband Speed Amplifier Model No. WRT54GS. I had it for a while and was working perfect with my laptop. Now when I'm trying to connect to the Internet, asks me the network key. I do not know what to put for this. If anyone knows what it is please help me. Thank you.
The sudden appearance of a network key for the router says that one of two things has happened. Or 1. Your laptop lost the key he had been using, or 2. Someone kidnapped the router and added a key to lock you. This would be more likely if you have enabled remote administration, allowing the management of wireless equipment, in addition to wiring. For this reason, this is not a shortcut convenient. Even if you find it more convenient not to have a machine permanently cable, leave an Ethernet cable connected to the router and connect your laptop when you need to run some of administration. And Shutdown Management (Administration-> Management page of the router's administration page). If you can get through the administration of the screen (through an Ethernet cable), access the Wireless page, then the security tab wirelessly. Cut and paste the four keys on the wireless network settings on your computer. If you can not enter because of the difficulties password, I assume the worst: that the router has been hacked and the admin password has changed. There's a good chance we'll have to restart the router, finishing with options configured. (If you have saved on the hard choices through the management screens, you can restore after the reset and save some configuration headaches.) If you have to follow this path, the first thing you want to do after regaining control of your router is blocking the remote administration so that it can not being kidnapped again. To restart the router, locate the reset button on the back of the router and the press in about five seconds. Good luck.
