What do I need to go wireless? (PC, Laptop, PS2)?

I have an old desktop PC and an old laptop (both several years). Neither have any wireless components. The desktop PC has a cable modem (not wireless).

If I:
1) Buy a Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router or the Buffalo Wireless MIMO Performance router and connect it to my cable modem
2) Plug my desktop PC into the router
3) Buy the Buffalo Wireless Ethernet Coverter (WLITX4G54HP) for my PS2 and Laptop

Will I be able to (without purchasing ANY other components) have my desktop online and use the converter to get both my PS2 and laptop (doesn’t have to be simultaneously) online in another room?

I think I read that these gaming adaptors are basically just bridges/converters that give gamers a “warm fuzzy”.
