How do you setup Verizon DSL with Linksys WRT54G?

I recently bought Verizon DSL and recieved a WESTELL 6100 modem for my connection. I went out and bought a Linksys WRT54G to use for wireless networking and I CANNOT GET IT TO WORK!
Here is what I am doing:
I plug in the modem to my computer directly-
go to 192.168.1.1/verizon.redirect.html and turn off the requirement for verizon software on my computer
I then login to the modem and go to the network settings-
I change the “Proxy Bridge Mode” to “Bridge”
I save and then go to the Private LAN settings-
I turn off DHCP and leave all the other settings the same-
I then disconnect the computer from the modem and connect it to my router.
I login to my router and set the starting IP address as 192.168.2.1 and turn on DHCP (on by default).
I then release/renew the routers IP address.
—–I get no connection—-
I have noticed the “internet” led turns off on my modem after I am done configuring it.
After anything I do I can reset the modem and everything works fine direct.

Change the IP address of your Linksys router to -

10.10.10.1
