NETGEAR PROSAFE 8-PORT GIGABIT VPN FIREWALL…

How secure is my security system if you drop into my wireless router?

After fighting with my iPod Touch and router configuration, I could not get them to play nice. Ipod kept saying incorrect password (can not go into the leg four issues). I'm thinking of leaving my lock. My Linksys low grade G should not go beyond the neighbors anyway. Right? I hope that the maximum risk of loss of bandwidth and slow surf.

You can give your gaming machine to be exposed directly to the Internet while maintaining security in all matters relating to the router. Here's how. The router has an option called DMZ mode. It assigns one – and only one – the complete IP address to be passed to and from the Internet without protection. Do this for managing the router with your browser – check your instructions, but it will be like (for D-Link) with http://192.168.0.1 admin username and password blank. Assign something like (for Linksys) 192.168.1.69 and 192.168.0.69 (for D-Link) to the IP address of the DMZ, and then give that same program on your iPod or whatever you want for the direct exposure – that's all there. the "69" part can be any number between 2 and 253 – but skip the range used by DHCP from the router that normally is 100-199. Having an open wireless system IMHO is a very nice thing to do. The exhibition in an open wireless network is no different exposure Internet and the exposure is much less likely to be the guys Professional Bad Zombie Farms LLC. Anyway, Windows is so vulnerable that any exposure may be fatal without the protection of others. So unless you keep anti-virus, malware monitoring and firewall settings on the edge of perfect – or run Linux — with some active safety wireless is wise. I use Linux. One point of misunderstanding highlighted in its response to the side. Having an open wireless network – an access point neighborhood – has nothing to do with the ports. Blocking ports is also handled by the firewall on the local computer. If you protect the software on your machine for access the Internet and malware – you're protected in the same grade of anyone in your network. There is no difference in the methods of protection. Ports Protection router [its blockade of the queries on the Internet] is enabled separately if the router is told to encrypt via WAP. Good luck.
