Sharing a USB printer into a wireless network?
I have a USB printer connected to my Windows XP desktop. My desktop is connected to my Linksys wireless router. I have a laptop with Windows Vista that uses my wifi Linksys. The problem is when I try to create a wireless network, it says to connect flash my drive (which has the configuration or whatever to the network) in my router. However, my Linksys Wireless-N Gigabit Gaming Router has a USB port. So only plug it to my laptop. It is said that installs well, but I can not even share files between computers let alone a printer … HELP PLEASE!?! But I still can not find a way to share files between them. I made sure file and printer sharing is on. And I made sure my desktop printer is shared and I want certain folders are shared.
If you do not want to leave your desktop machine all the time, may be better to get a Ethernet-based server printer that connects to your router. That will allow you to share the printer over the wireless network. If your laptop is already using the wireless router to connect to the Internet, you need not create a new wireless network.
