Help connecting Linksys router?
I'm trying to configure a wireless connection in my house with a router to my sister-in-law gave me via DSL. I trying to use the Linksys model WRT54G V 5. I held down the reset button for 40 seconds. I'm trying to configure the connection on a desktop computer Windows XP. I'm going to http://192.168.1.1 and get the message "firmware update for the administration of" I'm also getting the warning message "windows-error A system conflicy IP address with another system on the network. "The browser can connect to the Internet
The modem has to be overcome. Assuming that AT & T DSL is 1. Connect the computer directly to the moden. 2. Open an Internet browser and the address line enter 192.168.1.254 and enter 3. Log on to the modem with your username and password. 4. Depending on the modem you need to select the Networking tab. 5. Depending on the modem where it says connection type, change the connection type of PPPoE to Ethernet Bridge. 6. Save the changes, 7. Reconnect the router. 8, power cycle the modem. 9, should now have your connection, through the router. Good luck
