Why am I unable to connect to the Internet via a router WRT54G Wireless G and Wireless-G Notebook Adapter?
I'm trying to get the Wireless-G Notebook Adapter with SpeedBooster (Model No. WPC54GS) to connect to a Linksys WRT54G G Router Version 2 with no success: I used a Linksys WRT54G router version G 2, which finally was connected to a Comcast Cable Modem (Arris Model 7M502G). The software is installed on an IBM laptop. I have an IBM X22 laptop which is wireless but not used a Wireless-G Notebook Adapter with Speed Booster with the software installed to talk to the WRT54G. I was able to connect to the router in two different situations, with WEP and WPA, but the problem is that I get an error saying that I am able to connect to the router, but can not access the Internet. The firmware is updated on the router. We also have updated drivers on the laptop that has wireless G notebook adapter I called Comcast Cable and was told I might need to use a version 2 or version WAG54G ADSL 2 router that is compatible with the ARRIS modem. Pls advise. Thank you!
One thing out of me when raeding your problem. You say the router was configured to Comcast and now are using DSL. Did you go to the configuration of the router and configure Dynamic IP (Cable Modem) PPPoE (DSL Modem) and enter your user name and password from your ISP? This will prevent connecting to the Internet
