my home network is on a switch, I can add a wireless router to an open port?
is our home network through a cable switch NETGEAR FVS318. Not a wireless network. but I also have older Linksys wireless router (BEFW1154 model V.2). Can I connect to that router to a port open on the switch and also get wireless too? in other words, we want our network via cables to computers, but … I wanted to add this so you can get or wireless we have an iPod Touch (which is on the Internet, if your wireless range). I tried to have one of the output ports of the switch go to the port on the router, but the iPod Touch seems that looks and tries to connect. is a network called "Linksys" and hit me connect, but never loads a site and finally gives up. Is there anything else im supposed to do with this router. any suggestions? i wasn't sure if you can have a first power switch and a router Wireless was one of the switch ports. if I, what am I doing wrong. Do I have to configure anything?
You have the iPod connection linksys, but the Linksys does not connect to the Netgear. Use the linksys WAN port for connecting to a LAN port of Netgear. LAN to LAN connection will not work. For all other respondents, the Netgear FVS318 is a business-class switch with NAT and automatic routing capability built in.
