What exactly is a wireless bridge and how it works?
I have a Linksys Wireless Router Model # 610N. They told me I have to create a "bridge" to my satellite receiver to connect to the Internet even if no longer want to run a CAT 5 cable through the house. What is a bridge Wireless? Is this the same as a wireless router that I am here to capture the signal of my Linksys Wireless Router 610N? What is the difference connector bridge between a wireless router and a standard connector? Can anyone give me any recommendations for the purchase of what for me? Can someone also tell me exactly what I do with a wireless router and how to configure it to work like a bridge and not an access point?
Regular Routers are only AP mode (Access Point), where they expect that only the clients (laptops) to connect to them. Routers, by default, do not see. A wireless bridge is 2 devices special wireless (routers) which are configured to communicate with each other only. Create a transparent bridge between 2 network segments, and make it look all like a local LAN. In some cases, you can create a bridge with a normal router and a wireless client device, such as the Linksys WET54G, which links the signal wirelessly to another place and then a CAT5 cable connected to it. Think of it as AP are the "master" node, talking to many customers, "" nodes. Maestro can not speak to master, and the client can not talk directly to customers. Only the captain and customers can talk to each other. There are exceptions, such as how AP + WDS and others, but for most home routers, this is the answer …
