Additional network router brings down?
I run a small office with several computers networked together with printers, internet ADSL and router on the back. In my office I have 2 computers that I've been working on the network running another router my ethernet port on the wall and connect the two computers to the router. Things worked well until I switched from a d-link router to a new Linksys router (both wireless). This new Linksys router blows every other team in the office of the Internet. Why Why? As soon as you unplug the router in my office computers come back online. I work in relation to networked computers, but do not know much about it. Any information would be useful.
If you are trying to add this router instead of having to replace the Dlink, and both routers are by default to distribute DHCP addresses through every computer on the network will begin receiving auotmatically two IP addresses, and so the computer will not work. Done properly, you should do this: 1) briefly shut down the PC. 2) turn off the D-Link router and your Internet connection. 3) Replace the D-Link with Linksys. 4) turn on your broadband connection external. 5) Turn on your Linksys. 6) turn on a PC to verify that it works correctly. 7) If so, connect to the linksys homepage, create an administrator password, and configure security on the router. 8), reboot the PC to test the security settings (you may have to enter them inthe Wireless Network Setup PC if he did before restarting.) 9) once the first PC is connected, turn on the second PC and configure wireless security with the same settings.
